FounderFiles – Nunzio Presta by Jordy Beale and Reide Pastor-Baranek

After a long journey as a semi-professional hockey player trying to make it to the NHL, Nunzio Presta decided he was going to confront all of the negativity he faced during his fight to become a pro.  To battle back he decided to create a clothing line called Fame&Rumour, dedicated to confident living and a positive way of thinking.   This fashion line represented a way he could express and share his creativity to spread messages and inspire others. “Fame represents believing in your dreams and rumour represents surpassing any obstacles that stand in your way”, stated Nunzio.

The fourth year Entrepreneurship and Finance student is the CEO of the company and has a team of three that assists him with marketing, social media and web design.  Together they provide confidence and comfort through the finest quality apparel. As Nunzio explains, “Our classy and creative polo shirts are versatile and appropriate to wear to business meetings as well as casual enough to wear out on the town at a lounge with friends.  The simplistic yet classy and creative design gives our customers a garment that represents elegance, confidence and timeless fashion”.

Fame&Rumour has had an exciting last few months. Not only have they narrowed in on their target market, but they have also been able to secure their suppliers, create a successful prototype and have successfully completed their first photo shoot for their premium polo collection.  In the coming months the company plans to complete their look book, schedule meetings with potential retailers and distributors, start main production for orders and successfully deliver all of the orders to clients. Funding for the company has come from Nunzio himself and the company has projected that they will turn over a profit within the next six months.

Nunzio has been able to take advantage of the Ryerson Business Plan Competition and is also grateful for the many entrepreneurial concepts he has learned that he has been able to apply directly to his company.  Although it has been a challenge to launch Fame&Rumour while being a student, it has taught Nunzio the importance of prioritizing and balancing his life and work.
